Our new Signature Australian Single Malt Whisky is here
Manly Spirits Co. Distillery has released their signature single malt whisky – Coastal Stone Whisky: Nor’easter, following the successful launch of their first limited release, The Element Series. Coastal Stone Whisky: Nor’easter is a luxurious, contemporary whisky with an attractive $99 price point for Australian whisky aficionados and newcomers alike to enjoy.
A welcoming whisky, smooth & aromatic with maritime influences from the Sydney coast. An exceptional whisky full of rich dark fruits and five spice, with a long, elegant finish. Premium quality packaging has been maintained with a designer gift box and bespoke glass with a real sandstone stopper.
Coastal Stone Whisky: Nor’easter is inspired by the prevailing summer breeze that hits the coast of Sydney and creates a temperate climate for optimal whisky maturation. This whisky will be the quality staple of the Coastal Stone range for years to come with each year seeing a different ‘vintage’.
Manly Spirits has fused the worlds of wine and spirits by maturing their new make spirit in both Australian ex-wine and classic American/French oak barrels.
Ex-wine barrels from Barossa hero their Nor’easter release, celebrating what Australia has done well for many years in winemaking to create a single malt whisky that builds the definition of Australian-made whisky.
"We recognise that barrels used for maturing our whisky take on the nature of their original wine vintage. Each year's release will take on these variations of climate and maturation conditions, we call this 'whisky vintage', starting with the Nor'easter Vintage of 2022",
says David Whittaker, co-owner, and CEO of Manly Spirits Co.
Their art of creating a balanced and complex whisky is achieved by marrying both different barrel types and full-size format casks, ranging from 225-500L along with different maturation ages. Like a well-conducted symphony orchestra, each component plays an integral part in the art of whisky making and the final delicious liquid.
“We’re extremely proud of the quality and bold flavours that have come out of these casks,” says Dave Richards, Distillery Manager, and accomplished winemaker. You can expect smooth & bold aromatic flavours combined with the signature maritime influence of the Sydney coast delivering an exceptional whisky”.
Vanessa Wilton, Co-owner says,
“Everything we do at Manly Spirits Co. celebrates the Australian coast and we are very much connected to our location on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. You’ll see this in our gins, vodkas, and liqueurs, showcasing the incredible variety of coastal & marine botanicals. For our Nor’easter single malt whisky, we wanted to highlight coastal elements – time, wind, water – how they all work together to create our beautiful balanced whisky.”
Manly Spirits Co. boast a magnitude of international awards for their ever-popular gins, vodkas, and liqueurs. Vintage Cellars named Coastal Stone: Element Series (Sherry Cask) their Australian Whisky of the year. San Francisco Spirits competition also awarded it a gold medal, not a bad feat for their first ever whisky.
"There is a huge future for Australian Whisky" says David Whittaker, co-owner and CEO of Manly Spirits Co. "Australia's bold wines have taken the world by storm, with Australian Whisky well placed to follow in wine's footsteps to become staples both domestically and in export markets. Manly Spirits has a team of passionate brewers and distillers using custom equipment designed by us to create an exceptional fine and malty new make spirit for optimum barrel maturation.
